Sandy straights today.

Left ramp 6am.checked four pots for two nice crabs.went to flattie spot. parked up boat and got out. threw 100 mm bananafish bomber for 5 flatties to 60 cm in half an hour. dug some yabbies fished for whiting plenty but all round 22/23 cm quick fish for squid,no good.pulled out round 1030am. one 55cm flattie kept for tea.

Sounds like a good morning.
I have recently been at Mary River Heads for a short holiday. If you live in that area I am green with envy. Whilst we fished there we caught some estuary cod to 53cm in length and a small jew. That was just in the Mary and Susan rivers. Next trip up that way I think I will investigate German creek, looks good. What part of the straights did you fish?

yea guys fished from river heads round to german. the flatties are starting to really school up. i didnt electric into my flattie spot and spooked about a dozen. one morning last year we just fished specifically for them and ended up with 30 odd. there are some pretty reasonable spots round the heads. am going to try later in the week with the flyrod. There are also some nice summer whiting up the river atm.

Yeah that drain that runs out the bottom of Power isl fishes pretty well for whiting & it not far from the heads !!!
