Need a little help guys....
Every time I get something to take my bait, I have trouble with my reel afterwards. I get twists and tangles so bad I have to cut them out and re-thread my rod.
just noticed that the line on my reel is very loose and is currently not reeling in correctly (Makes a clicking sound and the line doesnt retract)
Using a Jervis walker WR 350 water rat with the line that was on it when I bought it 6-8lb tension if im reading it right.
any ideas on what is happening, or what I can do to fix the problem?
Ta in advance,
Bricey

Well Bricey, Just did a search for your reel to have a clue as to what you are fishing with and guess what? Your reel does not exist in thier range. Probably explians why nobody can help you if they do not know what you are using.
For a newbie you are sure setting a precedence for your remarks.
Jack.

it does exist just its only available as a combo ( first and second in the product table) i would say it has busted a pinion gear or a drive gear( prob worn off the teeth)

Yeah,
good way to get attention, poke us in the eye>:(:-*
Bricey I will give you the benefit of the doubt as you are a newby, but can I suggest chucking a wobbly is a sure way to get ignored in future, other than by those that will want to rip you a new one;D:-X
I found this link to your combo;
http://www.jarviswalker.com.au/product.asp?cid=116&id=1284
It comes as a rigged set up so assume the line has been properly attached to the spool.
Sound like the line has not been wound back on under any tension??. Find a spot where you can pull most of the line off and rewind back on, putting a bit of tension on as you do so (wind it thru your fingers just above the spool).
The clicking noise I am not sure off, might be ok, might not. If you are able to post a photo of the reel that would help narrow the problem.
How old is the combo?. This are a relatively cheap reel but if you look after it is should be serviceable for a year or two, If it has been used in saltwater and neglected it will stuff up in no time.

That sounds like your drag is slipping (line not "retracting"). Try to tighten the star shaped knob that sits on top of the spool by turning it clockwise.
And I agree with Tunaticer, a little more patience wouldn't hurt! :)

thanks for the responce. The combo is about 2 weeks old.....
only used freshwater and has only caught 1 fish.
will try your suggestion in the morning
Please excuse my previous post, just frustraited. 23 views to the post an no one has any suggestions at all. The only reason I got a responce at all is because I chucked a wobbly.

No problem Bricey,
see metaloid's comments. Do you know how to adjust the drag on the reel? If it is very loose, then you would get the loose line effect as you have described, and could also explain the noise you mention. The drag is the knob on the top of the spool. If it is loose then you should be able to pull line off the reel with little effort. It is used to adjust tension on the line to assist in fighting a fish without breaking the line. If it is loose, tighten it until it is relatively hard to pull line off the reel. Let us know if this is the problem and we can guide you further.

Calm down man......... Not even 2 1/2 hours between your first post at 4:29 and your big wobbley at 7:03 because you thought you were not getting enough attention ...
chucking a wobbly will only cause people to give you sh!t... But if it is attention you seek, thats a good way to get it.

Mate,
I wouldn't even think twice about it...I'd strip the old line off quick smart then take the reel to the nearest tackle shop for comment and a possible service. If their opinion is that the cost of the service would outweigh the worth of the reel then I'd ditch the reel in the nearest wheelie bin (especially if it was a cheapie in the first place) and upgrade to a newer, better one. If they reckon a service is the go, I'd have it done then spool the reel up with some nice new line...then bob's your uncle.

Another possibility is your drag washers may not be in alignment. One of the metal washers with ears may be not down in it`s slot.
If so, your drag will not tighten, causing your spool to spin and twist line when you wind the handle.

G'day
If it's as new as you say it is, strip line and wind it back on under tension.
If that doesn't work, take it back for a refund
Jarvis Walker aren't known for their quality
