Checked down the mouth of the Logan on Saturday and stayed in the sheltered western side of the islands down that way. Nothing - We saw maybe one decent prawn scuttle its way across the water, but apart from that, it was a waste of time. I still say it's too early, wait till mid April as we get the 1st of the winter chill. Others may have done better, but with wind howling around 20 knots, we were'nt in the mood to get out in exposed water and hunt for the big schools that MAY have been in deeper water.

I spent a couple of hours on Sunday morning between Russell and Long and scored about a Kilo. The prawns were a good size but there was a lot of water between them.
A lot didn't seem to do as well in the same area.

He left some pretty obvious clues, but you have to put a couple of pieces together to get it.;D

The river trawlers are probably getting about that amount but not the cast-netters. I've got the blisters to prove it!!!!

G'day

All I can advise is get out and try your usual haunts

Because an internet forum doesn't say they're out there, shouldn't stop you from trying.

Prawns No size limit 10 litres# # No more than 10 prawns with their heads or any other part removed, unless the removal was to process the prawns for immediate consumption.

Me and my wife both got our limit around the shorncliffish area on friday. Best prawning we have done in a couple of years. No other boats to scare em so we didnt have to chase the school, all we had to do was keep pace with em.
