Hi guys two questions
1. Can you do nmea between navman gps and garmin sounder
2. If so is worth it

navman GPS will definately have NMEA in and out, but the garmin sounder may or may not, depending on the model.
If it has the capabilities, its free to connect, so why not.
You will be able to see the speed on the sounder and you may be able to store depth info on waypoints on the navman

depends on what operating NMEA they are using

everything in the last few years is all NMEA 2000, anything before that should be NMEA 0183, the 0183 will talk to the NMEA 2000 device but not he other way around.

if they both have NMEA 2000 it is definately worth it, waypoints and nav data transferral becomes heaps easier.

1. NMEA0183 is not compatible with NMEA200 in any direction.

2. Many NMEA200 compliant units have separate NMEA0183 for backward compatibility
