Hi All
I have a 07 SR5 TD Auto hilux with about 24000k on the clock. Recently when I first start off in the morning or after it has been sitting for a while to completely cool down it has developed a really loud noise that sounds like the big end beaings are stuffed. The noise then disappears after a minute or two not to be heard again until next cold start up and take off. Seems to have really only started since I last had it serviced at toyota a couple of weeks ago. They did add a fuel conditioner, maybe that lossened some muck that has been trapped in an injector??
Have it booked in to toyota to be looked at, but am wondering if anyone else has heard of this issue. Would like to be a bit more informed when I face Toyota.

Cheers
Birko

Do you have the aircon swiched on at the time? If so, try it with the aircon off.

G'day Birko,
To cut a long story short, yes. Had a similar problem with a chey v8 diesal.Reco engine, pump and injectors.First 1000klm motor ran sweet.Service was done, oil filters and fuel conditioner added.Off to Darwin they go[boss and a mate].About 1.00am freezing cold just past Monto, motor develops noise.Sounds like big end bearing.Noise comes and goes,no particular pattern. Criuser was shipped back to Brisbane.Upon inspection it was found that the injectors were indeed leaking because of crap lodged under the seat, causing the noise.Fuel system cleaned out no more noise. So maybe it is what you are experiencing.

Hope you get the problem sorted quickly,Let us know how you went

Cheers Mick

Thanks Gents.
Will try the air con tip.
Its just funny that it only happens at about 1800 - 2000 revs and first up for about a minute or so. Have done a bit of googling on it this morning and found a few sites with people complaining about the same issue.

Keen to hear from anyon with a 05 to 08 TD with the same issue.

Cheers
Birko
