I know someone who nocked over a 20kg GT with a 3500 so....buy it.
In terms of quality, very sturdy build. Not as smooth as a certate because the gears mesh tighter together for strength. Still very smooth over all though. It will cop a hiding again and again and again. Buy it. If you dont I will!

I would'nt worry to much, I have the 3500 & the 4500 Saltiga's and they both feel the same. They are more built to last & stop trucks rather than being as smooth as say the Certate Hyper Customs.

Hi Spears
When you dismantled the reel did you physically check the gear teeth for unusual wear and also ensured that no old grease is inbedded in the teeth of the ears.
You should also give the reel a good wash with turps or shellite to remove any old grease and metal filings.

Bubba gump is right. Saltigas are not as smooth because the gears are meshed much tighter. They are built to stop freight trains.

Advisable to spend a few more $$ n retrofit the standard srag washers to carbontex drag washers to avoid " drag spike " which may result in broken reel .
