We have the mju 740 ,we bought this one because it is weather resistant not waterproof but it does have a 5x optical zoom which we have found to be handy the one you are looking at doesn't have that function i think ours is 7.1 mega pixels ,its been wet a number of times in the boat no probs ...matt

Mate there's three models of the Olympus waterproof/shockproof range. The 790SW is the first one they brought out, waterproof to 3m and shockproof to be dropped from 1.5m. The next model (795SW) is waterproof to 10m and shockproof to be dropped from 1.5m. The model they have just released is the 1030SW, which is a 10.1 megapixel camera compared to the 7.1 megapixel of the other two models. It also has a better zoom and wide angle lens. Otherwise is has roughly the same other characteristics as the 795SW. A mate of mind has the 795SW and it is brilliant - thus I'm trying to track one down myself though JB to use a gift voucher. It's not proving easy though given that the new model has just been released and none of the stores have the 795SW in stock. Personally I don't see a need to go to the 1030SW as the 795SW is more than adequate.

Hey Chewy,
i have to same camera, great camera, i found if taking in a boat tie one of your thongs to it as it will float it, also found if the setting is on SHQ (Super High Quality) the photos can come out fuzzy due to an unstable ground whilst out fishing, and you can;t tell until you put it on your PC or TV.. i found out the hard way,on a deep sea fishing trip, also on a trip around europe half the photo's we fuzzy, no good mate...
Also wash in fresh water after every use, i had a little screw under on of the latches rush out..

I have the 790 and we love it ... it takes awesome under water pics and movies that include volume !!!!! and for a father that has kids learning to swim.. you couldnt get any better
The kids toss it around everywhere and it has only failed once on us when the daughter kicked it across pavers and landed in the pool...
We took about 20 shots and some vids stright after underwater and then it shut down due to egress of water.... We pushed it just too farr...
Took it to the warranty repairers and had a replacement given to us in less then 5 days...
