Just wondering if any one has any ideas on fitting reelax 450 reef outriggers to a 625 cruisecraft explorer. Not sure on the angles ect. Any help would be appreciated:)

Riggers put a lot of stress and strain on the mounting area. I would be trying to get them on the fibreglass, not the stainless targa.
Mick had them on Outwide his 625 CC.
These are probably GCBFC or Finding Time pics.

Hi Smithy do you think the stailess plate on the upper side of the targa on the
CC 625 Exp would accomodate Reelax gunnel mounts and 4.5mt poles.
I'm sure the targa can handle it not sure of the plate seems thin and only 40 mm
welds top and bottom.

I have an outsider 575 and mounted my outriggers from the targa as you have described it actually broke the welds and i cant travel with the outriggers up there and cruisecraft dont reccomend that is where the are mounted I will be looking to mount mine on the side of the cab now I have beefed up the taega but will still move them as getting up there to put them up and down in any sort of sea requires the skill of a spider monkey hope this helps

I just moved mine from the cabin to the targa on my 625Outsider.
They seem OK so far. Much easier to move along the side decks.

Have you stiffened up the Targa Plate?
My whole intension of getting them up there was to have clear sides!
What bases are you running?

Gunnel bases with 3m poles.
Didn't stiffen the plate, just used three bolts. Seems OK so far.
I mean't that it is now easier to move along the decks with them up high.

You get crap rigger angles in most cases with the gunnel mounts mounted anything other than flat on the gunnels and pointing slightly forward or 140 degrees from the bow. If they go on targas etc. you really need little wedges made up or something so in the down position you still have rigger lift as well as spread. Unfortunately we were one notch out from having these ones up perfectly symettrically when we ran in when this pic was taken. These are on the gunnel of a 680HH. Anyone who has had anything to do with scissor base riggers hates going back to gunnel type mounts. The deploying them safetly at sea issue is a major factor. I have allready lost one to the bottom of the ocean on a previous boat.

Smithy,
I have recently fitted gunnel mounts on the side cabin of a trailcraft they seem to be OK but I agree with the point re; setting them at sea, I too have lost one (already)and you can't buy one side they sting you for another set. So if any one needs a base!. The wedge set up you mention, is that to wedge the bottom out, how much lift do you normally set them at. I am running tagline setup

Get onto Rob Powell (Fish Crazy) from the Marlin Bar, Fishnwaves, Fishnet etc. forums. He does look in here as well but not that often. Also maybe Google him and have a look at his site. His boat is a 560 Quinnie Legend and he has wedges set up on the top of his targa to get the rigger lift right with gunnel mounts. He might be able to help you.

I run 5.5m reelax outriggers on a 680 patriot, stainless base plates on the frame for the hardtop welded and bolted. 2 seasons now and couldn't be happier with them. I have some close up pics somewhere, if you like I will post them. Bayside Marine set them up on the boat.

I have not fitted them yet but have just seen a setup of 4.5 meter poles & 450 riggers fitted to the FURUNO demo 625 here in Brisbane. Looks great & the guys say they work really well. Look on their site for a picture. Hopefully fitting them next week

I like the set up in those pics the only probs with my boat is that fitting is going to cover over the explorer sticker. Where did you get yours from been looking around seems Wellsy has the best price so far?

You'll appreciate the Reef Riggers over the gunnel mounts. What have you got planned for them?

Smithy i will be giving them a run on the NSW South Coast Eden/Bermi.
Also will be using them in our local waters off Portland for Southern Blues.
Lures/baits etc and Tag line set up, have completed most of the rigging,
It's amazing how much cost saving doing it yourself rigging!
just waiting for the poles. http://www.leetackle.com/telescoping.html
I hope thats what you were implying in your question.
