Hi all,
I am looking into a trip from victoria to Monduran and the Mary River/ Hervey Bay in September this year. Do Barra get caught this time or year or should i just fish Hervey Bay and forget the lake impoundments.
Thanks

Hi Kellaig
You can get them year round, if you're coming all that way I'd give Monduran a go as well while you're up here. (you might also like to give our local lake Lenthalls a go)
It's only about a 2 hour drive from Hervey Bay so you can do it as a day trip if you're keen, although giving it a few days to give yourself a decent chance is well worth it if you can.
Cheers
Tony

Kellaig ...... Dont discount the lakes! ...... If it warms up in Sept , you could end up with some good fishing! I believe that the early season barra bite was pretty good at Monduran ( Sept) ......... Some of the locals can shed some more light on it!

PS ..... Keep in mind , the barra are always there!

Hi kellaig,
it fished ok from late august on, you will just have to keep an eye on the weather. The first northerlies are a good time to start looking. September is also a good time of year to chase salty barra in the hervey bay area. Hope this helps.

Best Barra fishing at Monduran is in September. Even August if it warms up a bit.
