Late this morning my dad was doing his best to gloat about his day off work to go fishing! It was too good of day to be sitting in a classroom so dad rang the school and just like that we were going for a days fishing at Tinaroo dam. As soon as we were on the water we immediately went to our first spot for no action. so dad pulled up anchor and we headed to some rapids, which were flowing a little harder than our last trip there. We attempted to make it to the base of the rapids but were swiftly washed back down stream. We finally secured a spot amongst the bottle brushes and started casting. I foolishly believed we weren't going to get a fish given the chocolate coloured water, then out of nowhere a little sooty smacked my little eddy lure and tore away under the boat, I've never seen my dad jump for a net like that before. after a short tussle we landed a small, yet powerful sooty. This sooty looked much darker than the sooty's we normally catch at Koombooloomba and are much fitter. After a couple of pics we chucked him back and funnily enough dad had a follow from another sooty just after the release. After a couple of minutes with no more fish we moved back to our first spot for nothing again. Only a little fish but the most exciting fish I've caught in a while, hopefully next in the boat is a barra!
