Wife and I headed up to Deepwater Bend this arvo for a quick fish and she pulled in a 45cm luderick for her efforts.
When ever we go up to DWB we are usually happy with a feed of bream - sheeesh, or we're REAL happy just to get a feed!
Already filleted him and skinned him - bit of flour and fried with some salt, pepper and lemon... quite nice.
(Wife thought it was a bit "fishy" but she's off her food at the moment because she's pregnant).
Best thing was seeing a decent sized fish coming out of the Pine and the look on my wife's beautiful face after she'd landed it!
"Excited" is an understatement!

nice Luderick, or dare i say nigger. One of my favourite fish......are they a regular catch in the pine....if so .....does any one target them using 'traditional' nigger gear ie....long whippy rods, floats and weed for bait?
I used to fish for them regularly when i was in central and southern NSW, but have only seen them being targetted on the Caloundra boardwalk in this neck of the woods.
Sorry, didnt mean to hijack ya post, maybe ppl could pm me, or we could set up another post.
Cheers

Greg....
Can't give any advice on targeting them because the missus actually foul hooked him right under the belly... but she says she planned it like that. :-/
We've caught a few juveniles there before but this is the first sizable one we've seen - also saw one about 20cm up at Bribie in the canals once before.
If you target them in the Pine in future would be very interested to hear how you go... Enjoyed it very much tonight!
