G'day all.
The brother and I took the day off work ( great weather .)Early on we dropped some pots off for sandies and headed to the sandhills . We had live blood worms but couldnt seem to get a feed !
We headed to Tangalooma for a look and you should have seen the birds goin'
off !
(I think they were longtail tuna) EVERYWHERE. :o :o There were only about three boats chasing them around and we had a go ( no luck )
I've never seen anything like it! ( I will post some pics if I figure out how to do it )
Next thing was the motor on the boat died and we had to get a tow from the Coast Guard ( $250.00 ) back to Manly.
Saddest of all is I know I have crab pots probably full of sandies out in the bay goin' to rott:-[ :-[ :-[

The crabs will be OK they will leave when the food is gone
Those Tuna around Tangas were mainly Mac Tuna but I found some LT's around M2. No luck on them though. Usually small slugs will get a hit but no go today. The bait is about 1.5cm in size. Pretty hard to math the hatch
cheers
Neil
Whats wrong with your motor?

Yeah ! Catching one of those macks would have made the day a little easier to swallow. We only had a couple of old prawns we were throwing at the macks and its no wonder they wouldn't touch it ;D ::)

Btw Horse, we've only had the boat (540 haines signature with 135 merc. optimax ) for three months and its been serviced ect ect but it has broken down on the bay twice in the last two weeks.
It really sux,you finally get a good day to get out and the damn boat breaks down again>:( .
The mechanic reckons its the "compressor this time mate".
Grrrrrrr.

Baychaser,
I can empathise - a few years ago I had a tow back to Manly from the same area, only it was announced curtains for my old Yammy with salt water in the combustion. Can't anyone offer to go with you to retrieve your pots with you? Too much money to just leave out there....
I would except I'm flying solo with the wife in Perth, and kids to look after.

Nah Scalem , no one can pick up the pots for me , they were only the 4 for $80.00 BCF stuff anyhow.:) I'm sure the sharefarmers lurking out there will clean 'em up for me but I hope to get out asap to check as soon as the boat is fixed;) .
I dont want any dead turtles being found in a pot with my name and address on it.;)
On a good note , the place I bought the boat off rang me back today and said the 3 month warranty runs out TODAY ! So they are going to fix it all up for me Monday !
So its actually a great thing it broke down Friday instead of a weeks time !

Finally got my boat back and set off to check and see if any pots were still there after 6 days on the water and to my shock they were all still there, full of starfish and one crab :D .
Some sharefarmer had hacked one to bits but it's fixable.
Fantastic day to be out on the water ,so calm !
Right on high tide we decided to flick some sp's around green before goin home.
I discovered I had left my t-curve set up in the shed so I had to use my kids small alvey set-up.
Lo and behold I end up catching my first fish ever on sp's , a squire just undersize at 33cm so back he went .
I think I've been stung by the sp bug now !;D
