Well this shitty weathers not letting up with 4m seas lashing the coast, I've reverted to reading all the trip reports again and again but thats not working any more.
I needed a fix so last Sunday I decided to load the young fella (Mr 6y.o) and the father in law in the ute and head up the beach at Shark bay again. With the enthusiasm still lingering from the success of my last trip I was confident of a fish, despite the 25 knot Sou Easter and 2 m sea.
I drove onto the beach at Jerusalem Crk at 11am an hour or so before low tide and pulled up at the coffee rock for a few throws with the faithful gulp 4"swimming mulltet...nothing. The wind and seas were a little stronger and bigger than I had hoped but hey it beats mowing the lawn.

A dozen or so throws later and it was time to move to the next hole. The next hole produced a bream close to 35cm but little else...bring on the next gutter.

The next gutter produced a flattie close to 55cm and another that threw the hooks in the surf ahh well thats fishing. It was at that point that I noticed Mr 6 trying to untangle the tip of my back up rod....He had one hand half way up the blank and the other hand trying to unwind the tangled tip. The 1500 symetre about half a meter under water......crap I was sure I said mate dont put it in the sand or under water!...its OK Brett at Ballina Bait and tackles looking after it now...he loves my reels ::)

The next few holes looked good but the wind was picking up and was now a good 30knts. I made the suggestion that we head the rest of the way up the beach and stop at Sedges reef! Those that know Iluka will know were I'm talking about, for those that dont you really need to find out!

A steak sandwich and a few middies later and we drove back onto the beach at Shark bay and headed back up to Jerusalem creek and then home. I stopped off at a few gutters on the way back up the beach but the wind and swell made fishing near impossible.

We didn't catch a heap but all in all it was a bloody great day...bit of a fish with my young bloke a few beers with the father in law..the twich in my castng arm has subsided for the time being.

Sounds good mate! You're one step ahead of me. I've only had a few throws on yamba wall in the last week. With work, and uni about to start fishing time is about to be severely cut!
How'd ou go at sedgers? I've fished there a couple of times but never done much good. Mates have though.

Matt maybe your not using the right bait or burley at Sedgers...;D Have the tuna turned up on the iluka wall in any consistancy yet?

Rando I try and make it back to the ute before the cause of of that seasickness kicks in....doesnt always work tho!
