Hi there all, I'm new to this site and live on the Gold Coast, Elanora, to be precise. I have a 16 year old Brazillian boy living with our family who is a keen fisherman in his own country with uncles to take him on their boat. Here in Aus he doesn't seem content with the Currumbin Creek and I don't blame him when there's bigger fish to catch. So what I'm looking for is an older fisherman with skills to keep him safe to take him out on a boat. He will pay his way and has bought some gear from Heaven (BFC). I would be very appreciative of anyone who has a spot on their boat or just to take him to show him around the hot spots on land and teach him some Aussie rules of fishing. If you can help out at all please e-mail me your contact number and we'll chat. Thanks all. (I shouldn't have to put this in but no paedaphiles please!):-*

I am a little surprised noone has answered you yet, give it time, there's lots of Ausfish members living on the Goldy that might be able to help you out. Just watch out for the boats at ramps with the Ausfish stickers on them. I would offer but I am not as local as some, and only have a little 4.3mtr glass boat not really suited to offshore where the big fish live. 99% of my fishing is Moreton Bay.

Good luck!!

Thank you Scalem

I am being patient but Felipe is in front of the XBox yet again this weekend, the first sunny day for ages and I can't get him inspired.
Will wait till I hear something from someone close by. Will take him up to the Spit today to show him the jetty and look at the Southport Fishing Club headquarters where we might head next time they have a meeting.

Funky,

I should be able to help you out in some way. I am very local (also live in Elanora) and a very keen fisho and would like to think I know a bit about it. I don't fish Currumbin Creek much as it is a bit hit and miss, but prefer Tweed, northern Gold Coast and the Pin region.

I have a safe boat and regularly fish with a number of people from Ausfish, but also do a few solo trips. The majority of my trips (including tomorrow) are pre-dawn starts or late night trips so that may not suit you (or your boarder), but I am more than happy to share a few tips if nothing else.

Let me know if you want to discuss?

Marty
