i am a soft plastics fisherman who is wondering what is the best way to tie on a leader,my friend recently put on 7.5kg line, trying to catch bream, flathead and trevally,he says he catches bream on that line but i haven't caught any bream on it

use an albright knot onto some 6lb fluorocarbon this will catch you some good bream not that 7.5kg stuff way to heavy unless you are landing your plastic on the racks, goodluck and i hope it helps.

Bimini twist followed by a ducknose for me.

For Braid up to 20lb i just use a uni knot and leader bout 12 though this is probably too heavy for clearwater bream.

Go as light as you can and use an albright. I fish 2lb line with 4lb leader for bream. Go a bit heavier if you're using the outfit as an allrounder

Hey chief i use a bit over a rod lenght so there is no strain on the knot wen you cast. Dont no if thats the go.

Mate,
my soft plas knowledge is limited to flathead and tarpon up till now but the flathead dont seem to worry. i use 20lb and a loop knot to tie the softie on and get plenty. im going to post a thread later to see how many flathead ppl expect to get in a session.I oly use a cheap 20lb mono with a loop knot and change it b4 i start each session. it seems to work but maye there are just a lot of flathead coz im no gun fisho.most of the bream i get are on small bombers wen chasing flatties:( hop this helps.

i just did my leader again,it is probably around 1.8 metres long,so hopefully it works.Do you think the fish would see the 7.5kg line on top?

I think they would be more put off by the shadow thrown by the braid. just my opinion though

7.5 kilo is too heavy for bream i was using 4lb the other day and i could see the bream, but i would take it by them and they were scared away so goes to show sometimes 2lb is a must.
