I just received the entire package from EPA including the assessment used. It's bulky and did not have time to read it due to other uni committments and deadlines. I would like to make a submission to EPA to have a rethink. They should be placing more emphasis in protection mangrove habitat systems instead of the transit zones.

Did I miss something here? Was that a YES I am coming?

Will endeavour to be there Phill, depending on how quickly the scattered showers clear.

P.S. I am appauled really as to the lack of response here. As of the 7th. of March we are probably going to lose Moreton Bay piece by piece to the Greens via the EPA. Doesn't anyone care about it? I work out just 5 people are attending this meeting?

Poodroo..this was posted at 9.05pm on Thursdauy for a Saturday meeting..a lot of people are committed by that time for other activities...so I would not call it lack of response more like unable to alter other committments.

You cannot expect everyone to drop their plans at short notice to attend a meeting. I know the timeframes are tight but I reckon many of us had plans already in place. Many do care about the issue but other commitments may preclude attendance

Let me know how it went down and I will do my bit to help out

I never singled anyone out, but more based on how many people are members who read this post and didn't attend. Even 1% of all the members on here would have been a big turnout. Never mind, we made good progress with the handful of people who were there. Was very productive. I know there are legitimate reasons but I also know there are people who just are prepared to sit back and do nothing. It's fact. I was not intending to offend any individuals, just being factual that there was not a lot of response. It's a little disappointing.

is SOBA a stand alone group or does it have links to any political parties??

Chris Ryan
02-03-2008, 04:50 PM
Greg,

Even though myself and a couple of others are members of the AFLP, there is no link or alignment to a political party.

Chris

From The Secretary.

SOBA inc, is non-aligned to any political party although we do have one in our sights...... GREEN parties and those with a particular extreme/ mono-view of how the people of this country should spend their hard earned holidays and recreational time.

In fact any political party that does not have the will of the people that voted for them in mind or are guided by political ambition rather than providing the platforms to enhance the way of life that the common people deserve, will be a target of ours.

Our agenda is to educate and inform every member of society on the facts surrounding recreational fishing, whether it be the benefits to mental health well being, the provision of food for families, the steps needed to protect the fishery that we use, the positive interaction of family members, the lies told from extreme green groups, the political deal-doing behind the scenes and to provide a accessible location to gain this knowledge. All this is supported by the people that actually fish and fish with a passion that encompasses every aspect of this wonderful pass time.

I cannot emphasis enough the importance of making a stand and voicing your opinion on matters concerning the restrictions being placed on the recreational fishing members of todays society.

If SOBA inc had even 1% of the funding that is thrown at radical green groups our job would be so much easier and the general public so much more informed. That would equate to rumblings within the Government to an extent that questions would be asked.

Of course, our area of concern is Moreton Bay, which runs from the Seaway ( Gold Coast ) to the Caloundra Bar and offshore Moreton, Bribie and Stradbroke Islands.

Is it time to get off the soap box ? nah !!!!!!!

Cheers Phill
