Had a session out in the bay shallows on the weekend managed to pull a few bream to 29 on the surface along with a few cod to 45 some squirels up to 50 and a WTF fish which gave me a fair bit of curry. I think it was part of the mowong family but if someone can help me out with a proper id that'd be great. All fish were taken on shallow cranks CK40's, SX 40's, 65mm sammy's and shallow camions all fish went back except for mr squirrel who kept my old girl happy and off my back for a little while atleast. All fish were taken on 3-4lb leader and 3-4lb mainline which makes for some exciting fishing but can also be a bit costly getting smoked a couple of times by some better fish. Starting to get addicted to the shallow stuff. Its pretty speccy seeing bream belt your surface lures deep in the mangroves in half a foot of water.

I think it might be a Netted Sweetlip... They pull hard but for their size!

Good work on the light gear mate. All fish are great fun in shallow water.

That morwong i caught at welly gave me a good fight as well. Nice fish and better than my hook ups in the shallows on the shallow divers. Is that the squire you got on 4 pound. Must have been a good fight on fine line when my 4 pound leader brakes of the braid when a ssquire hopps on(knot still in tact but leader gone) You might have to show me a better knot for the fine stuff. Good day out nick.

Cheers Guys I have been told it might be a Spotted Hind? Which is meant to be part of the sweetlip family. I thought a painted sweetlip was a pale gey colour with a pearly shine though it?

MartyZ, Jackextracta. Not sick of the jacks weather just hasnt been the best and just trying to put a few bream in the boat after a few dismal performances in the last couple of comps.

Dave. The not i use is a bimmini to a ducknose. the leader im using is yamatoyo harris fighter which has great abbrassion resistance for its strength.
