its been awhile since i posted a report,,,,, but i'm bored

hit the water at 7ish yesterday morn and decided to blow a few of the cobwebs of the tinny,,,, left spinnaker boat ramp,, plenty of car spots for a sunday means bugger all boats around,,, and it turned out to be true,,, the northern end of the passage was nearly bare up to goat island,,,

laid my dillies out,,,, went for a drift,,, and within a few minutes,,,, squire,,,, then more squire,,,, then more squire,,,

if only they were 3-4 inches longer,, all 700 of em;D ;D

ended up throwing the pick over,,, and sat there for a few hours,,, watching the rain fall everywhere around me,,, but it left me alone

changed spots to the ""x"" marker out the front of ningi creek,,,, picked up a couple of flattie,,, and perch,,, and decided it was getting time to check the crab scene,,,

got 9 in total,,,, but alas,,, half an inch more and they all would have been tea,,

2 of em came close to dinner,,, they were that tangled,,, but i'm happy to say,,, there still swimming,,

i had a few probs with the motor continually stalling once i threw it into gear,,, it was okay in neutral,,, idled away perfectly,,, in gear,,, died,,,,,,and i was running out of time to get a few things done on the home front,,, so called it a day

all up,,, heaps of squire,,,, a few school sharks said hello,,, 2 shovelies,,, coupla lizards,,, no legal sandies,,,perch,,,, all equals roast chicken

always next sunday i 'spose

Sounds like a good day on the water, regardless of how many fish were for dinner. Good to see you putting up reports again choppa.

In regards to your motor, was the 'brether valve' undone on your fuel tank? I know it sounds silly, but it has happened to my once before (almost twice, until I remembered to check it), so bad that I ended up rowing back to the ramp (not a good idea in 35deg heat mind you), I must've lost 20kg that day just in sweat.

Thanks Choppa - I was thinking of putting my pots out there tomorrow and then chasing a few lizards. Might have to reconsider

choppa if you find out the problem with the motor give us a buzz on what was the problem, when we had our boat out last same problem.
Scott gunna check the breather now that you have said and am going to hope that its a little tight :D

Atleast you got something choppa, if you had caught ntohing all morning wouldn't have been as good a day and it is true, there is a sunday (but a saturday before that ;) ;) )

breather valve was okay,,, but i did notice that the plug on the bottom cylinder was a bit ordinry looking,,, so i got the chance of pulling them both out after work yesterday,,, they look okay,,,, but i'll replace em anyway,,,,

one thing that i did (may be part of the problem??) notice was the primer bulb on the fuel line kept losing prime,,,, i didnt get much of a chance with the rain falling to pressure check it,,, but its in the truck at the mo',,, and i'll have a look at it at work this morning

can't be too much of a problem,,,, as i said,,, in neutral its fine,,, you can rev the hell out of it and it doesnt miss a beat,,, in gear,,, seems to loose interest and dies unless you keep the revs up,,, once its going its fine,, even when you back off and have it just puttering along,,,,,

water test on sunday morn and i'll sort it out

Choppa - I had a motor once which was doing that, and it was due to water in the gearbox. Hope it's not that, but something else for you.

The primer bulb not staying primed sounds like there is air getting into the line though as well.

G'day

Hey Chop... I had that problem with my little merc.

Would die at very low speed (idle) in gear, anything over 1/2 speed would be fine.

Ended up she was sucking air, the seal on the fuel line fitting had perished (8 years old mind you), and I went and got another. All is good.

Only use genuine btw

managed to score the day off today,,,, so at the crack of dawn,,,, boat was hooked up and getting ready,,,

changed sparkies,,, change fuel line and bulb,,,, adjusted idle,,, and whoops,,, sorry woke mrs choppa and half of the street,,,

oh well,,, it was a great morning to be awake early,,,,

i was suppose to be at spinnaker a bit earlier to meet a few mates,,, but they were already gone,,,, so i started off by getting the dillies prepared and set,,, and had a couple of runs up and down the straight to see if the motor was going to repeat the problem,,,,, seemed okay,,, so i headed back to the mouth of ningi and fished most of the run up with perch,,,squire a few shovelies keeping me amused

moved a few times,,, had a drift,,, but the scalies were all undersized,,,,,and most of those around me were experiencing the same,,,, around 1 ish,,, i had enough,,, the mates caught up with me as i was about to pull the dillies in,,, they had little to show other than a couple of nice cod,,, the wind was up,,, and i needed a drink

3 legal bucks were kept,,, heaps of undersize about once more,,, and i managed to score a barnacle encrusted gaff,,,, or what was left of it,,,, somehow it got caught up in the dillie,,, i thought it was a stick at first,,, but no,,,,

the motor only played up once whilst traversing about,,, so hopefully it was only a air leak issue,,, and me preempting it to stall,,, i''ll try again on sunday morning and see if it still loves me
