Quick Borumba Session 02-02-08

Headed to Borumba today with Craig for a quick couple of hours.
Arrived at the Dam at about 4.00pm and once on the water we were met with torrential rain and got bucketed down on for about half an hour....:(
We persisted and Craig landed a very nice Bass of about 40cm on a 'Cultiva... Zip and ziggy'...No pictures though as it was belting down rain and to hard to get the camera out.
The rain eventually stopped and we continued the hunt for some toga.
I mangaged one nice one at 65cm on a home made thong lure which the toga just love.Few pics and he was released.
Continued casting and I managed to hook another toga but he rolled and threw the lure.
Headed home just on dark.....Great couple of hours.8-)

Good to see someones home made lures are working. Did you use a fluro thong to start with? Great clear piccies to! We had 50mm of rain in an hour this arvo in Buderim. Cant complain about the rain-thats what people keep on telling me- i am starting to get fed up with it!!!!!!!!!

Hey Ben,
Yeah have made lots of thong lures and they work amazingly well on a variety of fish but they seem to work especially well on toga and bass.Being soft I have had fish take them off the surface,under the water and swim off with them.
Yeah I am with you the rain is getting a bit much now....It hasnt stopped...:-/

The borumba dam traffic wasnt too bad.....Few skiers etc.....but you can always get away.

Can you give me some info on how you go about making the Thong thing???
With Borumba only 1 hour up the road its a great testing ground for Home made lures, oh and the bass and toga being so aggressive is also helpful.

Nice Toga Pete, I should have taken your advice.. I got a couple of bream on plastics in the sound and then a few on bait after dark. most of them were little buggers though:-/
