most places that sell jarvis walker should b able to get u one, heavy and cumbersome tho, id recommend u look at an 8' uglystick rated around the 1-3 or 1-4kg mark if they still make them, thats wat i use and its a lovely whiting stick

You are looking at a 70's blank. Still works well in the right hands but you may find better if you look at other options

I have one and find it works for me for my type of fishing and i think about 4 years ago i paid $50..hard to remember that far back..
I got one in either K-Mart or Big W a few years ago. I'm surprised that I still use it occasionally when I'm after whiting, as all my other outfits cost a lot more. I don't think it cost more than $40.
Whippiest rod I've got by far, matched to a little Alvey 45b. It's not a low-mount, so maybe not designed specifically for an Alvey, but does the (whiting) job ok.
Good luck,
Mike

Lizard Wizard- I have a very old Black Queen rod that you can have free if you want . I live at Tweed Heads so it may not be worth your time . The rod needs new runners and the rod is a two piece rod and the ferrule is stuck but the cork grips and real seat are fine, it has had very little use really, its just that it is very old.

K mart is the place, perhaps some @marts.
Not all stores have em and they are often displayed away from the other rods....I know kmart capalaba had one on the sheld the other day.
I paid under $30 for mine on a 20 or 30% off deal.
I have no problems with the modern jarvis rods, the binding & finish is good and the guides arent too bad......they are most certainly old technology...... but the fish don't know that.
the big advantage is that the soft slow action allows you to cast soft baits lake yabbies without ripping them off the hook.
definitely run a small alvey......an old bakalite with star drag is the go.....not that you need the drag for whiting but its the ratchet and anti reverse features that are usefull......a 4 or 4 1/2 perhaps a 5" at a push.

Good day,
The old blacks were a bloody good old fg rod, imparted a fantastic action on cobra/devon style trout lures but be carefull the new chineese made blackie are not as well built as the original.Snapped a new model up around 3 years back and have replaced 3 runners over this time frame(poor quality cheap runners).
Not the rod of old by a long shot.
Cheers

i have got one i got it from big w about a year ago dad put me onto it as a good rod and it has been great its now my favorite rod and it cost me $33
My only regret is that i didn't get the deluxe one with the cork handle but there wasn't any in the shop at that time
Just one question about it Reidy how is it different to the old ones i have compared it to an old black queen and the tip looks a bit thinner but i just want to know where your one snapped?? and how you think it is not as good as the old ones apart from the runners
