Hello hello,
well boys hit up the brissy river on the aussie day weekend on the runout and scored a 50cm flatty which is by far the best fish to date. Got another one about the same size but it dislodged the hook just when i was about to land it at my feet. Also another 30cm cod rounded the day out. All fish were caught on a rootbear gold 4" grub gulp and 1/8 jig. Good to finally see a couple of nice flatty results from myself after continually hearing how easy they are to catch on plastics. Had another run the same as last time i went fishing where something scremaed the line off but when i tightened drag enough to stop it it was gone, im thinking maybe i need to give the rod a bit more of a yank to set the hooks initially.
cheers ay

I recond you could pull a brick through the water and they will strike but with plastics the only trick is to fish the right areas and set the hook. I took a new plastic mate out with me and he lost 2 good flatty over 50cm he thought once on they stay on. Well done on the flatty and enjoy the plastics.

A very tasty catch there mate, gotta be one of my favourite eating fish. Be careful not to set the hook too hard, I've got mates who get a bit carried away with it and rip the rod tip up really hard, and I swear that one day there's going to be a set of fish jaws on the end of the line. I've seen them do it so hard that the lure will fly out of the water and make a b line straight for their heads....makes for some pretty funny fishing.:)

lol yeh ive done that a few times myself actually, particularly when trying to dislodge snags...tis not so funny when u have a jig with a sharp hook flying at ur melon at 100km/hr

Yeah but don't set the hook too hard or you may just end up with a pair of flatty lips. :P

Well done on the new PB. Nice table fish at that size.
