Gday Bill,
Try mashing up some pillies and mix it in with your chook pellets and tuna oil. I then freeze it into smallish blocks so I can chuck a few blocks in the berley bomb at a time. Works a treat.

Thanks Kezza
Do You Break Down The Pellets In Water First So You Can Form The Blocks
And Is There A Limit To The Amount Of Tuna Oil I Should Put In The Mix

Bill,
You'll find that the pellets break up when you start mixing it all up from getting wet from the oil. I don't know whether there is a limit but I generally would use about 1/3 to 1/2 litre in mix that would fill a 4 litre ice cream container.
Cheers

the late FIL use to swear by
wheat,,, fish frames,,, left over bait ,,, tuna oil,,,
mixed in with water and boil it,,,, preferably on the outside BBQ plate,,,,
the wheat would swell and take in the oils,,, thus making it a "burley"" within itself,,, but once cooked down you can then fill whatever containers you have and freeze
i've added a personal touch and add a box of either vita brits or weet bix,,,, but i dont include it with the cooking process,,, i add it once everything is done,,, a thorough mix and then fill the containers
i even include this mixture inside ""chook frames"" when crabbing
its cheap,,, nasty,,, but it works
theres been a few posts on burley,,, do a search,,, you'll find the unusual,,, and the common used amongst them

Like Kezza I use pilchards (save the ones I don't use) with chook pellets and tuna oil. Actually I add any left-ove bait, cut or squished into small pieces. Unlik Kezza I freeze the mix (with water of course) in large blocks, such as icecream containers. I put a block into a net bag and drop it overboard. I also add stale bread, the crumbs from the Vitabrits, or whatever I have.
This method works well in winter when the colder water melts the ice fairly slowly. I might try Kezza's method in summer, when my blocks melt very quickly.
The advantage of any of these methods is that they deliver an unbroken stream of berley leading back to you!

pillies, chicken pellets, tuna oil, old rolls from the bakery, tins of cat food, wheat bix, stimulate liquid, aniseed, just be creative and mash it all up. i used to freeze mine (but havnt done it for a while) in news paper. then when your out fishing throw it in the water. the news paper dissolves and so does your burly. or drop it into a burley bucket

I use pillies (diced or minced) tuna oil and bone dust from the butcher's bandsaw.

I use chook pellets, tuna oil and catty litter. The choock pellets slowly float down letting out the tuna oil ,and the catty litter sinks to the bottom. This covers more area.

I've done a post on this before, but i use a food processor and when it's blowing i use all the left over bait from trips before and left over prawn shells and mix in equal portions to make a great sloppy past then put inside 3 litre juice bottles then freeze and when go out just put a few drill holes or knife cuts in it and zippy tie to the anchor chain bout 3/4 way up the chain and as it defrosts booshka good berley.
JT
The mixture usally consists of old pillies ,squid ,fish cut offs from filleting and prawn shells from the odd kilo bought from the fishermans co-ops
