Capricorn Sunfish Inc.
P.O. Box 900 Yeppoon. 4703
Would you like to see 600m long nets back in Keppel Bay after 20 years?
That is just one of the proposals in the latest Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) for our Inshore Fishery.
PUBLIC MEETING for Recreational Fishers
Monday 4 Feb 2008
7:00pm
Rocky Leagues Club - Cambridge St. Rockhampton
Capricorn Sunfish Inc will be explaining the complex ramifications of the proposed changes and facilitating a collective response from CQ recreational fishers to the RIS. The future of your favourite fishery could be at stake here.
The proposals if approved, will:
· Limit what you can catch, while allowing the commercial fishing sector unlimited catches
· Result in more and longer nets in our rivers and inshore waters
· Greatly increase the likelihood of conflict between sectors
· Allow netting back into Dugong Protected Areas
We've been waiting 15 years for an effective inshore management plan and this is all we get. It's time to say "enough is enough!"
