Put in at Golden beach at about 5:30 for my first ever adventure at caloundra in my boat. My mate Frank is usually the skipper when we fish on his boat, but he hadn't been in my new boat so he was Gilligan and I was the skipper. Tide was right for some yabbies, but we didn't know our way around, so after we made some new channels in the sand, we found a decent bank and got a nice seive full of nippers.

We headed downstream and pulled up at a likely spot, which we fished for about an hour with Gilligan (Frank) catching a few undersized bream and a small whiting, it got pretty windy so we headed for the skids.

Anchored up in about 4 to 6' of water, a couple of decent whiting couldn't resist some nice fresh yabs, but there were only 2 decents and they started getting smaller quickly until they left the area.

We then upped the anchor for a bit of a float around. Frank wasn't big on SP's until he landed a lizard on one, and I hooked a couple more small grunter bream and an undersized cod on SP's. I got one decent Grunter bream on a live prawn. (one of 4 that pete and I netted the night before in the pine)

About 12:00 the mobiles started ringing, and we had a bit of a feed in the bag, so we called it quits for the day.

We got the yabbies on one of the banks straight out from the boat ramp. Not sure what the ramp is called, but it is the one next to the entrance to pelican waters

It does get a bit hard to keep track of sometimes.
I have bookmarked this.....

http://www.dpi.qld.gov.au/cps/rde/xchg/dpi/hs.xsl/28_3042_ENA_HTML.htm

and I print it out and keep it with my beacon to beacon, at least if the fish police say you are wrong about sizes, you have something to show them.

G'day!

you can either print out the above page or scroll down it to where you find the pdf table and print that. (pdf = portable document file and is a copy of the handout brochure).
