Spent another couple of days up at caloundra fishing the passage and pelican waters canals. Though i didn't experience a session like last time where the fish were hitting the popper on every second cast i did land some decent fish. With a river 2 sea bubble pop this time in the 45 size i managed a nice queeinie of 56cm that smashed the popper just as i turned my head the other way..DANG!... After taking a bit of line and jumping a couple of times i had the fish on the bank for a few piccies. As well as the queenie i managed a first... a couple of nice tarpon that hit a variety of lures including poppers, soft plastics and divers deep in the canals up past the weir. I discovered a cracker spot for them, at times it was as simple as throwing your lure out 3 or 4 metres and jigging it up a couple of times...there would be a big flash of silver and you would be on. At one stage i hooked four fish in exactly the same spot in the space of about 3 minutes. The tarpon were sitting just off this drop off if front of a pipe that was being fed from the canal, 3" gulp minnows jigged of the edge of this drop off was the way to go!
All in all a pretty exciting trip with a few nice fish landed to top it all off!

Nice work, i remember getting Dart and Small Queenies in th surf on really light gear ( 4lb) in the surf and geeze they went off. You just brought back some good memories ha ha. Nice Tarpon and it sounds like a cracker of a session.

Top stuff mate. Keep that tarpon spot under your hat, they're a bloody exciting fish to catch, especially on the light gear.
