At least you got to see surface activity... I burnt a fair bit of petrol yesterday in the southern bay and didn't see anything.:'(

Hi Greg,
did you leave from cabbage tree ck. We might have left around the same time? We headed to the sandhills for a good feed of whiting and sand crabs

and I did the same in the northern bay and saw nothing exciting on the surface. plenty of bait below, and a scattering of birds above. the only splashes came from schools of northern pilchards in a feeding frenzy (i.e. rather than being fed upon).
mind you, it was a glorious day to be out cruising the "northern wedge", reading the newspaper and drinking ice coffee.

The water is looking awfully green and murky in the southern bay. I went from manly to peel to goat, up the rainbow, Looked around the bar, back through the rous down to harries then green. The most i saw was about 3 birds diving some bait about half way up the rainbow but there was no fish around them. I'm sure the spotties will be here soon...hopefully.
Its been awhile between drinks for me, work this time of year keeps me off the water ...esp when you add in the amount of non fish-able days.....the surface action was little tuna ...only a small school...chased them for awhile but they were not playing the game......they would have been about 3-4 k from the 4 beacons..heading back to sandgate..
