We left Manly at 5.00am for a serious assault on the bay's Macky population. Onboard were myself, my little bro Glenn (Cervelo) and his good friend Mark.
The conditions were not great with a solid chop and squalls as well as a reminant swell running through the bay. We searched from the Sandhills to Cowan for no action at all:'( . On the way we dropped by the Four Beacons and met up with Madmackeral and 2DKnB on the same quest.
They were not doing any better than us in the search for the elusive Spotties :P so after bashing a few more beacons we headed over to some coffee rock in search of a feed of Squire. We worked plastics in about 70' and ended up with a good feed of Squire and a couple of Cod though it was hard work:) .
We had a friendly fisheries patrol vist from two young lasses who informed us that they had not seen any Macs at all and we had the best catch they had seen for a while. It looks like the Bay is not quite firing yet after the fresh:-/ .
Cheers ;)

Good haul in not the best conditions. ( if that makes sense) it's always good to have a back up plan, but than to have it work for ya, awsome stuff.

Nice work horse,
Shame there weren't any macks for you. Hope it is just a very late season. Good work with the plastics those - what plastics were doing the damage?

G,Day Neil, Thats a top feed of squire and cod.
Those elusive macs sure are playing games with us so far this year.
Lets hope they start to wander down into the Southern bay before too long.
Cheers Brent.

Left Raby Bay with the same intention, except our plan B was not that productive. Didnt spot any surface action around Peel.
Thats a great feed Horse

Good to see fish still being caught in the bay after all this fresh and weed around and of the red kind. Well done and pitty about the missing spotties. I saw heaps of birds working north of straddie but not shure what kind of pelagics.

That's terrific! Well done, Horse.
What a shame there are no macs to be seen. I am heading over that way in the morning. 8-)
Oh well...... perhaps I might get a nice feed of sand crabs. :)
That's a great result on the day's outing for you. ;)

Good to catch up Neil.
Pity the macs didn't come to the party.Oh well there is always next time.
Maybe i should have stayed on the ledge and picked up a feed.
After i left there i worked the beacons south to the 4 beacons then trolled for a few km's back to Mud with not a look in.Picked up a cod and got done a couple of times at mud.As you say the Bay aint fireing yet.

About the same for me on the Northside. Left from Scarborough and worked from the Pearl channel up to Bulwer with not a spot to be seen. It can't be too much longer though. The North of the bay is thick with baitfish at the moment.
My plan B din't work anywere near as well. I stopped in a Curtin to flick a few 2" peeler crabs around. No results except for being absolutely monstered twice.

Thats a damn fine result for a back up plan.
What colour in the shrimps? never been a big fan of the profile, they just dont seem to have any action at all.
Come on mack's::)

The 3" shrimps were new penny.
I was a long day but sure beat the last 2 or 3 trips in the bay.
Heres hoping some of that bait will lure the spots in.

Cheers Glen, i got some of those left after trying one and not liking it at all, will have to give them another shot.
Lets hope we see some macks soon, It would be a damn shame for all that bait to be wasted;);D

Beats me how the Shrimps work. They look more like a piece of old chewing gum rather than a top notch placky;D
They have worked well at Scarb as well just deadsticking. Might be when the prawns are running because they often don't get a touch:-/
Gee Neil! That's a good pic of a nice feed but the question begs!!! Where's the pic of the 2 young lasses???????
Mate, those Cod look pretty yummy! At least you managed to gather a nice feed though.
Take Care T
