i had a look today 18th at bynagnum bridge, the freshwater is still running brown. the whole bank down there has changed. you can still launch a boat, but have a good look as there is soft sand around. closest to the old wooden bridge looks ok. i'll probably try to fish there next week. cant wait as i saw plenty of small mullet so something must be there to eat them

Well i headed down this morning and was shocked by the destruction. nearly all the riparian vegatation has been swept away at the beginning of the rapid sections in both the oxley and tweed arms. seriously it looks like a bulldozer has gone through and ripped it all up, i reakon it may be several years before the oxley will recover. Anyway the water is still running hard and is full off sediment, we ended up fishing clarrie hall for the first time landing 4 bass up to 40cm. by the time we figured out what they wanted the bite period had finished but it was definatley worth while just for the scenery. It was aswome hearing the bass suck down a baitfish from underneath the lilypads but frustrating because there was no way we could present a lure that deep into the stuff. Water was running over the spill way and pumping water of decent clarity into doon doon creek but alas not interest on the fishy front. So the whole river is pretty much trashed, i reakon i won't bother for another month of so but the whole rapid sections will never be the same and will take ages to recover properly. I wonder what happened to all the platypus.
