Fished the western arm this morning scored a few fish. This is mire a ramp and access report.
As the dam is full you have to launch off the road that leads to the old ramp.
The parking is limited so please dont park in the turning area. At least you dont have a steep hill to walk up.
Rhere is a lot of debris floating on the road. It is mostly small stuff around 6 to 12 inches long with some larger stuff mixed in.
My motor wasnt powerful enough to reverse into it so we had to pole out abit 20 feet to where we could turn the boat and motor out across the reeds.
There is a lot of floating debris for around 1 k dependant on which way the wind is blowing.
The water is quite clear
It is impossible to go upstream as the stream is fully blocked.
We found it easier to find protected bays. If we tried to fish the normal edges the lures would just pick up debris.
Here are a few photos.
First one is ramp taken from turning area.
2 opposite ramp
3upstream showing completely blocked
4first bend
5 second bend showing ammount of debris.

Yeah that stuff is THICK AS and hard to get through.

At its current level, you could only really park about 5 cars or so with their trailers there. Would hate to see anymore than 8 vehicles using the western ramp unless you launched and parked furthur up the road.

Did you catch any fish amongst the debris Ray or did you fish up near bass bay/Ian's island?

Didnt go as far as Ians island got most of the fish in a couple of small inlets on the right hand side opposite the second bend downstream. The wind seemd to have cleared all the debris from this area.
Cheers
Ray

If you do launch at the Western Arm be sure that you remove any valuables from your vehicle...and of course lock your vehicle! Many things have been stolen from cars there, and now people are starting to use that ramp again, I can only guess it wont be long before the undesirables return as well.
