Well this is a late report and i wasnt goint to put it up , hotoes will come later!
Took the kids and partner out on Monday morning after a wekk of sh#t house weather and 3 wet days at rainbow beach.
We got outside early and dropped a line out at Arches reef with alot showing on the sounder most was bait with a few squire and shark in the mix, once a local charter boat parked its us ontop of our anchour we decided to call it quits and head further up toward rooney's ,since i picked ablack up last time i trolled all the way with not a bird in site:-/
We eventualy spotted some action and decided to troll straigh through it as they appeared to be small Mac's, once we did this of course we coundnt see them again when suddenly the sound i have been longing to hear for atleast 4 months happened Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Zzzzzzzzzz took the inside deep gold Halco , i called spanish as it had far to much weight to be a spotty, at first it the fight was abit soft until it came close to the boat then it showed what these speedsters can do, i estimated it to be 8kg , The next move was to pull from the troll then move up further, still no sign of birds.
We cam across one of many bait balls for the day spotted due to a beer like head been formed on the surface a first for me, it wasnt until i looked around i noticed we were surounded by spotties, we ended up with 13 for the day with one spanish not bad , oh yeh wealso had 3 sharks around us biggest was 4mtrs they to were eating the bait ball, i hooked up to one for awhile , unfotunatly we dindt take a photo of that scene but i asure you it was magical , my son was rather funny as h "freaked out" and hiding under the consol because it was his first shark , he tells me now he is not scared to look "but dad i was so freaked out" oh yeh Angus gave me a hand in pulling the spanish in for his first time out.

Photoes to come

Nice work Mick, we dragged the boat up to Rainbow for a week over new year but didn't even wet a line due to the conditions. Got 5 crabs though so it wasn't a total waste.

Cheers
