Hi Team.
What is the taper of this rod?
Your thoughts and recommendations of using this rod as a dedicated jig rod?
Max lb line recommended for this roda?

The 200 has a medium fast taper. I gather the 400 will be similar.
The 400 has a maximum line rating of 37kg.
Hey Splash a bit off your post here but have ya been around to elizabeth bay or the bromby's yet? Dan......

Thanks Flattie!
When I do a search on this forum for these rods by typing in 't curve deep jig 400', I get too many pages of mainly unrelated stuff.
Any hints on how I can quickly find info on this rod on this forum?

Splash,
the T Curve Deep Jig 400 has been around for a number of years now and was designed as a "dedicated" jig rod. I have the overhead model mounted with a Torium 30 and 80lb Tuf Line. As stated above it's probably classed as med/fast taper and quite "stiff". Hence it's really only suitable for bigger jigs (say 300-500g) it has a lot of backbone though and puts a lot of hurt on fish (and the fisherman ;D ) for smaller jigs go the 200 model. For the price it was quite a good rod when it came out; but now as jigging has become more popular again other "cheap" rods have appeared. A few worth looking at are the Pfluger Supreme Jig, the new Berkley Jig rods and the Daiwa Monster Mesh rods all similar pricing to T Curve.
Depending on your budget...there are 'better' Shimano and Daiwa sticks for $500-600 or a huge range of more exotic /expensive Japanese rods for $700+ .....these get really wild! Look and feel like a 2-4kg bream rod to pick up but will dead-lift 24kg with a parabolic curve that almost bends in half :o .
Cheers
John

IS parabolic curve the taper to chase when using overheads?
This medium to fast taper - what advantages does it have over the slow taper or parabolic curve taper?

The faster the taper the more mechanical advantage is offered to the fish, this in turn can only be viewed as a negative.I tend to think of the T-Curve (400) as a slow taper, you just need a suitable quary on the other end to get it there,it is after all a 37kg rod,it is not parrabolic though. To get a look at a true parrabolic rod try and dig up some footage from the 'Tiawanese(sp) all 100 club' useing the Jigging master rods in NZ,truly amazing stuff.

Interesting thoughts Benshee.
DIffernt opinions on what taper this rod is. (Fast/Mdieum/Slow) - think I'll call Shimano up and verify.
Is parabolic considered the best for jigging with overhead?
Thanks

A full parrabolic rod is definately the way to go for jigging wether your useing overhead or spin, that is providing you can see the value in buying one.The nature of the fight while jigging is in a verticle plane, the last thing you want is something that feels long, the first rod I ever used was a Saber 25kg short stroker(fast taper),a great rod but absolutely useless for jigging,I'll post a pick of the rod in action in the later stages of a fight (picture this rod with the line below the boat),then I'll post a pic of a cheap medium taper which I considered to be a lot more user freindly.
