Went down to the Townsville rockwalls for the first time this year. After some good rains I thought I needed to get out. Got up at 4am and by 4:45am I had 2 lines in the water, one with strip mullet and one with whole mullet. The whole mullet turned into a small shark after 15 minutes and the strip turned into my BIGGEST EVER BARRA at 108cm a short time later. A big fight ensued and eventually I tired her out. Heavy as..............but managed to get her up the walls for a quick pic and then send her on her way.
Lets hope the big ones stay around until the season opens. A magnificent catch in my books and just a pity about the off-season
Enjoy the pic

Yes Mozza, my first Barra over 1m. It feels very good to be in the 1 meter-plus club.
When I put the tape over it my mouth dropped as i realised I had just hit the magic 1 meter mark. I thought about a beer at 6:05 this morning but decided against it.

Congrats on a great fish.
Yeah you miss out on a feed, but you sent her back and she can have heaps more babies, so it's no pity.
Cheers, Adam.

Congrats Kev!
Hope she lives through the opening of the season. Fortunately there's not that many pro nets around Townsville anymore (or am I misled?) They get caned in that first week.

Good work Kev,
I wish the closure would hurry up and open. I'm not heading out till its lifted cause a fish like that would feed the family for a week.
Once again, good work.
Cheers
Mark
