Headed to the gold coast today with my bro to brave the conditions and smash a few jacks on poppers and frogies. The weather as you can see from the pics was terrible, but the fishing was sensational. Landing five jacks, getting smashed by two while losing our fav poppers, and grabbing a trevor along the way. The best jack went 44cm but the two we lost were 50 or over.
Using 2lb strene and 6lb traces we were always up to our necks deep in it when it came to pulling in the biggies.
Spot x has fired twice for us now recording 11 jacks in two sessions.
Here are some pics from the days events. All were released.

Hey well done mate. Always great to see somebody getting into some quality fish in the adverse weather conditions we're having at the moment. I bet they were tons of fun to get on such light gear too. Great Jacks!

Cheers,
Dorado

Great effort in such horrible conditions.

Looks like it was certainly worth the effort.

Nice work on 2lb:o

Gotta admit i'm a little skeptical though :-X

The cold weather probably was on your side though as most of the Jacks are probably a bit sluggish at the moment. Was this the case? cause a 44cm Jack on 2lb is very sporting indeed.;D

Good results in any case and i mean no offence by my skepticism. ;);)

plaztix we have found fishing rock walls and on the surface with poppers the jacks find it hard to bust you off compared with fishing snags,we would never fish snags with that size string. And we fish for bream as well so it is all sport.

sorry plaztix it is 8lb leader my mistake. If you enlarge the photo of my brother you can see that the leader is this size.

Gotta be happy with that all the same.

Boating a 44cm jack on 2lb main line is a top effort.

Good to see your efforts paid off ;)

Nice pics......Thats a great result on light string in this weather. Youve encouraged me to get out there too. Thanks for sharing the report.

Do you just use a loose hook on the frog, or did it come out during the fight? Have you thought about a worm hook? They are often used with unweighted plastics.

cheers
