Pine River - Boxing Day

Headed down to Dohles Rocks ramp at around 4:30 and stayed until lunch.

Started by dropping a few pots and then anchored up between the bridges. Couple of hits on SPs but my learning curve still hasn't hit the point where I catch too many :cry: . Drifted for a while and had a pilly severed by something with teeth sharp enough to make a clean cut. Headed into the creek as the wind came up and we were rewarded with 2 keeper bream and a nice flatty :cool: all on SPs. Threw back an undersized cod, another small flatty and lots of undersized / female crabs.

I headed down yesterday and was flicking sp's about 100m left of the small ramp. No joy, but the cookd prawn (swiped from the dinner table) had a few nibbles but nothing encouraging.... Glad to see the persistence paid off. BTW did you get any crabs? I think I was being picked clean by a crab....
(Tried using some leftover bacon- funny thing is only the fat was taken off the bait, all the pink meat was left intact.)

Chris: 3" jigging grub in smoke (gulp). Doubt it was a jack, we were drifting the channel by then.

Jim_bream: no keeper crabs, did see a bloke boat a large muddy using suicide pots.
