View Full Version : Keep it? Or take it back?

I just bought a 2-5kg T-Curve 30mins ago from a store.

Looked great in store and as soon as I got home I started inspecting the *drool producing* rod when I noticed this.

Now am I just being over protective of my new rod or is this something to worry about and should return it?

It looks like some customer who was just browsing has applied enough force to bend it down, making it split from the lacker (coating)

The first time you either snag up or get a good solid hit the rest on the bottom half of your rod will follow suit.

If you dont take it back, it will always be in the back of your mind, even if it doesn't let go.

Thanks guys. It looks like I will be taking it back.

*sigh*

On closer inspection it looks like another 2 are the same. If you look at it, you cannot notice it, however if you apply as little as 50g (packet of chips) of pressure, light can be seen shining through.

Mate I have one of those and they are fantastic.
Bought it second hand from one of the great members on Ausfish.
Great rod have caught lots of fish with it, jacks, flatties etc.
Get a good one and all will be well....

Cheers

I have heard great things of the rod and it feels great in hand.

I am sure my spirits will brighten up once I get a rod which does not have this problem :)

with the epoxy being broken, it will allow moisture in & if the guides have had the feet ground hey will rust pretty quickly..

i have used the t curves in darwin chasing barra great rods and you can apply plenty of grunt, this may just be a lack of quality control i would take it back and exchange it but just check the next one in case a bad batch

Thank you all. I have since taken it back and the staff were very helpful and swapped it on the spot.

They accidentally gave me the more expensive 2 piece T-Curve and this time I double checked everything at the car before I went home, so I went back into the store and returned the 2 piece for the rod I actually paid for.

The new rod is perfect in every way with no faults of blemishes.

Thank you for your advice guys.
