Ive just spent 2 weeks at Loders Creek in Southport. Didnt think much of the small and shallow creek until i attacked it with my new kayak. After decking the kayak out with rod holders and bits n pieces, I headed out. With high tide around early morning and a slightly overcast day, the conditions couldnt be better. The mornings would start quite slow until the tide turned. Lots of bream (mostly undersized) were smashing my 3" watermelons along the rock walls and around the many weed beds. After about 10 oclock the bream went off the bite and i targeted flathead. They didnt muk around either and 3 flatties were landed in about 20 minutes. They were great fun on the light line and wouldnt stop slithering around the kayak.
I noticed that every day for 2 weeks there was not one other fisherman in sight :o. Perhaps thats why i was luky but nonetheless i recon this little creek is overlooked and is worth cheking out to those in the area.
