Hi all, with the right tides and moon yesterday (big highs-build up to the full) Trent and i went back for another round with Jack up an awesome creek we discovered up here just north of Mackay.

Plan was to catch Jacks, get some on surface lures and video the whole thing. Unfortunatley the Jacks didn't co-operate on the surface, maybe because it wasn't early enough (9am) and too clear?

Anyways we got some alright footage and a shitload of Jacks, even though no surface strikes. We ended up with:

14 Jacks,
10 Yellowfin Bream,
2 Barra
2 types of Estaury Cod
1 Tarpon
1 Pikey Bream
1 Archerfish
1 Catty
1 Mosses

Bloody awesome day, best jack session eva. Biggest Jack went 45cm, hooked after beating 3 of his mates to the sx40 after his mate spat the lure out, right in front of the boat in crystal clear water. Most jacks were smaller models around 30-35cm and came from under native hibiscus tree's and over saltmarsh (big tides). The jacks behave very differently on these big tides and are found in the most unusual places:o . Did see a couple of Horses follow the lures to the boat, 1 would have been pushing 55-60cm.

Bream were also very prevalent smacking lures all day, biggest going 32 FL. Barra were a bit of a surprise as they have mostly all pushed right down to the mouths of the rivers, and recruitment was almost 0 here last year, so no rats around the upper reaches. Biggest Barra went 53, lucky they didn't engulf the sx48's, cause our 10lb leader wouldn't have held up.

Speaking of which i used 10lb Yamatoya fluro, and didn't have to change it once all day, just a trim, this included jacks swallowing the sx's rite down. All fish released for others to enjoy. All fish (except the first 3 fish), caught on 6lb string, 10lb fluro and the good ol' sx40's and 48's doing all the damage. Everything loves these lures. Can't even buy them up here though!! To small they say!!:-/

Cheers Guys.
Yeah 1 of the best seion i've eva had.
Scoocer & loophole, the set up was a Diawa Sol 2000 on a 2-4kg Loomis stick.
Hey Pete, fishin can still be very hit and miss up here, especially in winter. Your recent rock exploits have me keen for a good rock sess this chrissy down the coast.

Cheers
