Hit Oyster Channel bridge in Yamba on the top of the tide today with a 5'' jerk shad in sardine bounced with the last of the run in and came up trumps with my first Jew. I've never caught a Jew before and have only given it a little bit of effort so I guess that makes me pretty lucky.
It hit the jerk shad just on the side of the bridge I was on and luckily I was with it and kicked the 'leccy into top gear, swung the boat quickly and led him away from the bridge. After that it was a series of good runs and dogged headshaking down deep until 20 mins later he popped up and into a waiting net.
Would have been lovely to crack a metre first go but there's always next time.

No, I didn't get a weight with the boga the fish had a swim in the livewell for a while as I forgot the camera so I didn't want to stress the fish much more by hanging it unsupported. After I got the camera I gave it a few happy snaps and revived it in the shallows and let it go.

Nice fish mate. Its amazing how many people come into town "Expecting" to catch a jewfish over a night or 2. Put in the time and you'll get them, but in your case, I'm assuming a little bit of persistence, skill and luck combined to make you one happy angler. Good on you mate!
I love getting pictures with fish at that boatramp with the trawlers in the background. Ill have to scratch around and find a few with the exact same boats there (except the jew in them are about 3-4kgs smaller than yours is). hehe.

Nice fish Josh. Beautifull markings on these fish. the metre mark isn't everything although I'm sure you'll do it soon.
