headed up the Narang with a mate in his little 3.7m tinny.
it was priity windy first up but calmed out during the day.
4th cast of the morning greg hooked the first fish that ran him about 20m under a boat and busted him off. good bye $20 of chubby!
we kept fishing the same stretch of bank using chubbies before switching over to surface lures. greg used a smith towadi while i used a eco gear pink grub on weedless hook.
we both caught some nice fish around the 27 to 30cm mark but the pink grub caught the bigger fish.
greg got a nice bream at 30cm fork lenght on 2lb. a few casts later i flicked my lure against a pontoon an saw the whole school of bream slurp the lure. ''hit, miss hit, miss'' i kept winding the lure untill the biggest bream in the lot came up and looked at the lure. i then just dropped the lure in his face and he sucked it it straght away. as soon as i struck the fish he ran straight around the pole. because i was using 3lb leader in 1lb braid you cant apply much pressure so i opened the bail arm and set myself into a better position and slowely pulled him out. being one of my biggest fish ive ever caught on surface i was pritty stoked. a measure of the fish and he went 34cm fork lenght. we released it to hopefully get it on a comp day:P.
we kept fishing surface lures and just as we were about to leave the pink grub had a massive splash of water followed by my little daiwa screaming its head off. i thought i hooked a giant herring but as it didnt jump i knew it was a good size trevally. again i only had 1lb braid and 3lb leader connected to a big fish.
we fought it all the way out into the main river and about 5 min later landed a good GT about 55cm and a few kilo.
over all we caught about 40 fish for the morning sesh and plenty of bycatch on popper, pink grubs and towadi's including moses perch, whiting, flathead, trevally, queenies and cod.
we were both busted by some more good fish.
