spooled off the goldy

I recently replied in a poll thread... i voted hell yea on getting smoked on a quiet day... Well today i stuffed up! i forot to set the ratchet on the reel. All 900m spooled off the 30w Tyrnos, I only noticed when the knot at the end of the line gave of a huge bang... Getting smoked isnt all that good especially when you loose $140 line and a hex head skirt....#$%#$ (BOOO0:-[ )
Anyway has anyone lost gear due to silly mistakes? I know im not the only one LOL:D

Yeh, recently I went out off the goldy for a solo run and put myself on some pretty good looking ground around the 36's. First I stopped off on the bait grounds and jigged up some slimies but because I was running late I did 3 drops for 4 liveys in the tank and left. Once out there my garmin 178c was showing a pretty picture under the boat with bait on the bottom and mid water and big stuff in between. I got so excited I was trying to do too much and everything at once. In one hand I was feeding out a livey on the tld30 and in the other I had a live fibre and stradic 5000 to bounce the bottom, then I decided I wanted some more bait, put down the stradic and held it between my knees and grabed the bait rig then smack, bang, wizz, splash good buy stradic.
