Started off in close to get a feed for the boys straight up on SPs. This Squire and Sweetie were the standout. A few smaller Squire and a Flathead got in on the act.

Got live bait at another spot. Watched the boat Jeffo was on choke on a Sail. Had a quick bottom bounce there then headed out near the shelf.
First drop was on this bump which comes up to about 225m.

3xdroppers, 1xclear, 1xyellow, 1xred glow sticks, 2xsquids, 1xBonito. Drop time was about 3:25.
Drifting along we got fish shows like this twice. Here and another spot we also marked bait up high or possibly schools of Frigates which we are used to seeing when we troll these areas.

And a few minutes into the drit and I got a tug on the line so it was tag team winding on the Reefmaster.

Resulting in this. John holding it up. Hapuka or Bass Grouper? How can you distinguish? Anyone? It was on squid.

We had another few drops on that spot and lost a Yakka there as well to a good bite. The Yakka survived a few descents up and back. They even survived 350m dropping. We had a quick troll to the canyon to check out the performance of my sounder. I forgot to do a few things to it so the power was probably way down but I still hit 600m. What was impressive was pinging 500m on the plane.

There was no real difference in quality between transducer bracket up or bracket down. I also forgot about the bracket once and took off and it didn't trip even holding good clean plane.

Time then to hit up some of the ledges we are used to trolling over. First drop once again produced this. A smaller model held up by Dave.

Drop time here was 4:20 or so. Check out the topography.

Tried a few spots on the way home but only hooked a shark. That was our day with a bit of trolling heavy tackle looking around.

Hey Smithy

Couldnt believe it on Sat when you said you were fishing in 350m! Wow, that is a lot of winding.

I took some friends for a drop on the way home from the canyons on a wreck in about 150m. All we got were 4kg kingies. Very dissappointing for all that winding!

But 350m? Now that's a long way down ...

Great catch as usual!
