Ok the women folk are over using the plastic bag under the toilet seat option, I must admit I was a bit nervous as well, the skinny steel legs meant I didn't stop to read the form guide or the trading post...

I need to buy a Portapottie ... What at the tricks and traps

What Size
What Price
What Chemicals should i buy/use

Thanks Bruce

we bought ours at bcf when they first opened! i bought the biggest they had and i amhappy i did ! my brother bought the smaller one and is emptying more often and it sits lower to the ground then mine! mine is a thetford 165v eligance, i buy the chamicals in the 1ltr and 2 ltr containers they last a fair while! you will need 2 types of chems, one for the crapper section that breaks down all the matter and stops smells and one for the flushing section that coats the bowl stops skiddies and smells nice, you wont use much of this one! chems you will buy from bcf also! as for prices ,for the dunny i can not remember what i payed but it was worth every cent! wife and 2 daughters!;)

the bowl coating chem sounds interesting, we used to just pump the flush pump a couple of times to wet the bowl, and carry a bottle brush to use as a loo brush for those extra sticky skiddies. The bowl coating chem sounds much more elegant.

There are places now where one can empty porta potties - we used to use a biodegradable chem, and dig a fair size hole down at Leslie Dam in the early nineties. I did learn back then that the excavation should have one sloping wall, that the discharge pipe ran down, so as to prevent splash back when the lower tank was full.

There is an interesting book on this topic, written in the US, where it is often necessary to carry out everything ;-) that you carried in. The title is How to Shit in the Woods, and some of the bigger book shops, and no doubt, some of the smaller ones stock it

I have used a few of the smaller varieties and found it a bit awkward at times especially at the end of procedings.
Spend the extra cash and get a big one and you won't be dissapointed.
