For about 2 years now I've been using plastics around the place but only really got stuck into them about 6 months ago.
In that time I've probably caught 12-15 different species on them of all differing sizes but the one species that i've been meaning to target for a while and the one that has always eluded me is the humble bream.
Well today I thought I'd start off by actaully trying to get a bream, rather than just what turns up after a few casts (usually cod, trevally, jacks, reefies, etc). I put on a little 3" powerbait in a sorta greeny colour and went out to the mouth of the Pioneer River where there is a nice rock wall with some water flowing over the tip of it.
After months of trying it only took about 3 casts this morning before I pulled in my first bream on SP's. I also did it in style too with a 37cm yellowfin bream. I didn't use any different techniques to what i've been using but something just worked this morning.
About 10 minutes later I also pulled in another one, this time 29cm. I think now that I've broken the hoodoo, bream won't be a problem for me again but it sure took some work to get that first one...
