Greetings all,
I am intending to buy a cast net, and am hoping someone can give me a bit of advice regarding the different sizes and the benefits of a net with the Top Pocket.:-/
Cheers

G'day
If you're new to cast nets, then have a look at the videos here on how to throw a cast net.
As for sizes, they range from 6' to 12' with about an 8' net being ideal for a first timer, maybe a 10' net if you're keen.
Stick with monofilament nets, the mesh type get waterlogged and way too heavy to use. bottom pockets are for collecting bait like hardy heads, herring and the like with top pocket nets designed for prawns.
You can buy nets with both top and bottom pockets, and you can spend anything from $40 to $300 recreationally for one.

I suppose it would be smarter to get a cheaper one, that I can wreck whilst getting the hang of throwing it.
