Gday all. Fished Bribie yesterday avo to try and catch first decent fish on plastics. Fished the edges of channels and sandbanks as suggested by fellow ausfishers (thanks fellas). Second drift scored first flathead on a squidgy fish measuring 45cm. Not a snodger but i'm satisfied. Nothing else for an hour or so, so we pulled the pin.

Headed back up today for a flick around and was disappointed all morning until i changed plastics to a 5 inch pink gulp. The next 2 hours was probably the most exciting session i've had without keeping a single fish. Drifting along the same bank as yesterday i scored 4 just undersized flathead and a 32cm estuary cod. Moved to a deeper hole and on my first cast hooked a solid fish. Started peeling line like no tomorrow. After a minute or so the fish had found a way to beat me by wrapping me around a snag. Started the donk and did circles around it for a few minutes trying to get him back, then TWANG! S*%#. After reading reports on how Jacks hit, i think it may have been one. It bumped it a couple of times and then a couple of seconds later - vhoompah! Oh well, the one that got away.

After that session i am well and truly hooked on plastics, and can't wait to finish work tomorrow and go again.
