Hi Ausfishers ..... I'm just after some opinions of members who have used Nitlon PE braid .... PROs & CONs
I'm looking to spool up a Daiwa Zillion 100HA with 30lb Nitlon. This will be predominately for point casting ( Barra) + the occasional popper session for Kingies:P
So what are your thoughts? .... Nagg

By no means a Braid Expert however am using some 10# Nitlon on a Chronarch Baitcaster and find it be great. It lays well and ties well. I have some Suffix Braid on some other baitcasters and would prefer the Nitlon over it.
I can't think of any 'cons at the moment and will also watch with interest what others have to say.

Nagg the Nitlon braid is great stuff.....particularly in the heavier stuff.
In the really light stuff my preference is still the good old fireline 6lb and under as it seems to be the most user friendly and never gets wind knots etc.

You will love the 30lb stuff.

Thanks Pete ..... I use a fair bit of fire line on my light gear ..... But when it came to heavier breaking strains .... there was a lot to be desired :( The reputation of the Nitlon is pretty good , diameter quite thin & most importantly ... its a true braid:P
Pete it looks like it would be fairly noisy through the guides ....... Is that the case ?
My other Zillion has 20lb TD Sensor which is great ...... Though there does not seem to be too much difference in the diameter (20lb sensor Vs 30lb Nitlon) ..... Hence my interest in the Nitlon ....... I've calculated that I should be able to get around 110M of 30lb Nitlon on the Zillion .... Nagg

Nagg, That's exactly the line and size i'm using on my Zillion. Perfect for it I reckon. Yeah, it is a bit noisy through the guides, but I like the sound. Especially with a fish on!
I'm also using 6lb on my 2000 Certate and have had no trouble, but I made a mistake on my 1000 Stradic. I'm using 4lb Nitlon........never again. Wind knots galore. As Pete said, fireline forn the light stuff.

Cheers Jeff

I have 20 pound nitlon on my certate 3500hd and it is very good, it ties good knots casts well and sits well on the spool. I think it is good value.
Marty.
P.S. - It is a bit noisy through the guides but who cares.

Like Pete and Jeff said it's fantastic in the heavier strains, especially on baitcasters. I run 40lb on my barra gear and it's great, good abrasion resistance, lays beautifully and knots well. Had a shocker with it in 6lb on my threadline. Windknots and all sorts of dramas, went back to fireline in that application. Worth noting though that it truly is rated to it's breaking strain. So I probably should have been using it in more like 10-12lb strain to be comparable with fireline for both strength and diameter. Would have behaved better on a spin reel in those strains, as it wouldn't have been so ultra limp, Interestingly Jeff it was a on a 2500 stradic that it played up for me too.

I actually bought a 1000metre spool of 20lb Nitlon PE on the weekend for $120 (thanks James) and loaded some on my Tekota 500. It's a weapon.
1000 metre spools are the way to go, aren't they Pete?:P

i was lucky enuff to try some of the sunline cast away in 20lb and boy its this stuff good.its limp but not to soft, it sits flat, its nice and round, cast a mile(this was on a new chronarch)and is has a verry small diamiter. the 10lb is like 4lb fireline. the 20lb was the same size as my 6lb(fins) this stuff is the ducks guts and i will get geting a crap load of it when i can find the cash. it just blew my away with it quality, just get some and see for your self, you wont look back

Thanks for all the replies , it all sounds pretty good to me ..... so I'll be off to pick up some 30lb today!
1000M spools would be nice ..... but it would give me like, 8 respools::) So I'll just stick with a 125M spool first up!
Does $50/ spool sound ok ????

Sorry to hear all the problems ( wind knots) with the fine diameter stuff ...... I had all sorts of problems finding a 2 or 4lb braid for my Stella 2000S (2lb superbraid = CRAP, 4lb Fins= Ditto , 4lb Vanish = vanished off the reel very quickly .... All gave me greif) ..... I ended up with 4lb Suffix ... which seems OK.
I dont know if it is a Shimano thing or not ...... but there seem to be problems with Shimano reels & light lines ( braid & Fluoro) ....... Both the Fins & Vanish fish off my Certate 1500 really well8-) ..... Nagg
PS ..... Also had to change my rod with the Stella ( It hated the T Curves 701 & 702XL ..... so it ended up on a Nitro powerbream Finesse:-/ )

use it on all my baitcast stuff from 10lb bass to 50lb barra now...its excellent you won't be disappointed

did a home abrasion test between TD sensor, nitlon PE, fireline XDS and finns PRT all in 50lb...not suprisingly the true braids (TD sensor and nitlon) were far superior than the others. finns was the worst.
