Hi, my 4wd has got rust proofing sprayed under it and I've noticed that some has rubbed off going through sand and mud. In some part's you can see surface rust starting to show and I was wondering what is the best way to fix this problem? Should I give it a light sand back and then just put some sort of rust preventative on it ?
Thanks.

The pics wern't coming out very clear. It's on the diff housing (not sure of proper name). You can see where the paint's rubbed of and the browny rust colour's coming up. There's also some on the chassie. It's nothing major but I thought it would be better fixing it sooner than later.

if its on the diff itself I personally would worry about i've never seen a diff housing rust out.
If it was on the body i would rub it back to be clean of any rust signs and reapply the rust proofing (thicker). You could even prep it to paint it first then apply the rust proofing.

Clean it back and cover it with Tectyl 120/558. I think supercheap might sell this stuff these days. If you cant get it from supercheap i do know that they sell one if the other tecyl commercial type rust proofing treatments. Its a thick black paint and can be thinned and sprayed on.

Its also worth taking a look at the Tectyl 506, not as tough and does not last as long, but great stuff to squirt all over your car. I spray the stuff everywhere. Been using it for years on boat trailers and the stuff is magic. The thicker the better!

With both treatments you can buy spray guns (found at places that specialise in industrial coatings) the make the stuff turn into a fog that you can treat inside chassis rails.
