headed out from wello and was in the water around 4am.... spoke to a few other fishos before departure and their expectations etc. tried to cast for fresh bait but couldn't raise a scale. so it was then up to a short supply of old frozen herring and chicken breast, and plastics!! got some solid hookups but was rubbed off a few times, then my hook knot failed me on a cracker fish>:(

drifted a bit for a few under size squire and cod and then tried the chicken breast on anchor. don't normally use this in the bay, but it was wrapped up with the other bait.. only managed 1 keeper sweet lip before the pickers started driving me crazy. seen a big grey shadow in the water, but played it down as a reflection, untill i got back to the ramp. speaking with another bloke, he said he was checking his pots out in front of the leads and a massive shark (unidentified) showed itself (all 3.5-4m of it) right beside his boat. he said it circled his boat(he was in a 5m cabin quintrex) and then just dissapeared. he said the girth on the thing was amazing!!

also spoke to a few other blokes who all struggled to get onto the fish, few of them were Island hopping as well! i don't feel so bad now!!!

also thought it was funny to see a guy rock up in his 40 odd foot riv style boat. he sets his anchor on the ledge ast wello, sets a few lines, then heads inside and returns with breakfast and coffee!!! i was waiting to see him drift plastics into the shallows!!! thought it was funny to see a boat that could go anywhere it wants, but fishes a close inshore rubble patch!!!!

cheers

ha ha, you should asked him to knock ya up a Cappuccino.
Perhaps he enjoys the company of the common folk.....at arms length.
I bet he was looking at everyone else in their little boats and thinking to himself "how goods this" while sipping a latte' and reading the paper, supermodel girlfriend, dressed scantily, is in the galley making eggs benedict......oops, I'm dreaming out loud again.

Cheers Roo.

I had a guy show me a snapper head that had just sharked him. And the large reds getting around due to the large bait schools i know why the sharks here. To bag himself a few fishmen while pullin up the reds. lol. In all my night trips i have never heard or seen any sharks but i hear a lot of sightings by others. Lucky for me he doesnt like plastics.

My business partner has a 31.5m Searay. It's done more K's around the Raby Bay Canal's than anywhere else....

Just cause they have some $$$ doesn't mean they know anything....

Great boat - great bloke by the way !!!

Headed over to Green this morning and got a mixed bag. Not many throw backs, but nothing huge either. Ended up with 4 squire, a sweetlip and a sole.
