Calliope River - Hot Water Outlet

Decided to waste some time yesterday afternoon and go and flick a few SP’s around the hot water outlet on the Calliope River in Gladstone. I wish i could say things were hot hot hot but unfortunately, things were very quiet to say the least. Started of fishing around the run out of the creek and didn’t get a touch. Saw a few nervous bait fish skipping around the surface but couldn’t russle up any interest. Moved into the faster flowing waster next and managed one hookup on the 4lb gear using a 3” grub but whatever is was got me under a rock. It wasnt huge but you expect them breaks using the light gear. Anyways that was the highlight of a very slow session.
Next outing I think I might try drowning a few livies around the outlet and see what happens. Can only try I spose,I have never had any great success at this spot, yet I here a lot of reports that it does produce some good fish. I guess that what keeps me coming back…the possibility.
