Hi all i am heading to the tweed on the weekend, and thought i would chase a few bream, just after a bit of info on what h/b and s/p lures are the go there. And are the canals and upper reaches the go, or up near the mouth ? would appreciate any help, and when down ballina way i will return the favour.

Hey Corby, I'm only new to the tweed this year myself... however I'd suggest closer to the mouth or Terranora / Fingal area. Havent used hb's, but Gulp minnow sp's, silver or white.

Good luck

Although not a regular Tweed fisho , you will find all your favourate Bream plastics will work.

As the bream at the Goldy at this time of year are hitting surface lures, the tweed bream would surely be hitting them too in the few canals there.
Failing that , pick a wall and drift along and cast , cast ,cast.

Corby, i have good success fishing from 200 metres west of the second bridge you cross heading south on the north side of river to 500 metres east of the bridge, great structure along here and always get good bream and a few flathead, use 3 inch berkley minnows in smelt scales on a tt 1/6 to 1/8th head in no 2 hook and you will do just fine.

Had a great bream sesh down at Tweed a few months ago, caught a lot of 35cm models and one at 42cm. It was without a doubt the best bream sesh I have ever had. Stopped counting when we had caught and released 120 bream. Was on bait though not SP. I found that the wall coming in from the river produced well but not for the bigger models. You need to get up around the second bridge and beyond to find the bigger fish. Good Luck with it mate

good luck corby, i can't be much assistance as i can't reliably catch the buggers in any good numbers or size. the rockwalls around chinderah hold plenty of fish and the canals have all the potoons to play with too. There are good weed beds opposite the chinderah ramp which will have schools of rats patrolling around with the odd solid fish amongst them. surface lures seem to do well on the still mornings. lots of structure to play with, fish it like you would the Richmond and you'll do fine.
cheers Roo.

thanx roo
the only diference is i know where to fish on the richmond as the boat ramp is 50m away from my front door, so i fish at least 3 times a week. the tweed looks huge with a lot of structure to flick at. But really looking forward to sunday.

Thanx again to all for your info
